Materials are used in many millions of applications and processes and oftentimes, for at the time seemingly unknown reasons, the material will fail. As an example, our laboratories are regularly contacted to investigate the failure of construction sealants, paints, glues and a range of other rigid or semi-rigid materials such as metals, plastics and rubber.
Very often, the suspected failure of any material, may in time proceed down the litigation path and in these instances, we are requested to act as Expert Witnesses for one party or another.
An expert has been identified as person ‘with the status of an authority on a subject by reason of special skill, training, education and experience’. The expert is one who has made a particular and special study, practice or observation of a subject and must have specialised knowledge in the particular subject.
